How to frame cyanotype prints
Good framing protects cyanotype prints from light, moisture, and acidic materials while making the blue feel intentional in the room.
Use UV protection
Choose UV-protective glass or acrylic when possible, especially for bright rooms. Avoid hanging cyanotype prints in direct sunlight.
Use acid-free mats
Acid-free mats and backing boards help protect paper over time. A mat border also gives cyanotype prints a collected gallery feel.
Match standard sizes
A5, A4, A3, 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, and square formats are chosen for common EU frame availability.
Avoid damp rooms
Bathrooms, humid kitchens, and exterior damp walls are not ideal. Keep framed prints dry and away from condensation.
